Children and youth are the lifeblood of any congregation and First Presbyterian is no different. We are committed to offering children and youth excellent opportunities to worship God, grow in faith, and serve others in the name of Jesus Christ.
At First Presbyterian Church children are not sent away to a distant youth room or Sunday School class, but instead participate in congregational life. Youth serve regularly as worship leaders. In this role they lead the congregation in prayer, read Scripture, and have even preached the sermon on special occasions. Here at First Presbyterian Church children are not seen as the future of the Church, they are seen as its present.
Sunday School is offered weekly following worship. The congregation is also proud to participate in a community Vacation Bible School, affording all children the chance to set aside one week of their year to focus solely on God. While these things are important, the thing that sets First Presbyterian apart is the role of children and youth in worship. From lighting the candles to singing during worship, children are active and visible every Sunday morning.
